Sculpture has been the natural progression for my need for artistic expression, not only with drawing and painting the landscape and figure, but ultimately through the form and weight of sculpture. With a whimsical approach, I enjoy sculpting the almost human expressions animals sometimes show us.
Living in the Arizona desert allows me to observe many animals that visit my home daily. After researching the anatomy of my subject, I sculpt in oil based clay which is then made into a bronze with the lost wax process.
“Notch” is my first sculpture, winning First Place at the Scottsdale Artist School “Best and Brightest” art show. I am also a plein air painter of the western landscape, working in pastels. I have works in both public and private collections. I worked as an Artist in Residence at the Petrified Forest National park in 2013 and have been awarded an Artist in Residence for The Hubble Trading Post Historic Site for 2014
